Abstract
Belt presses are complementary to the structural varieties of machinery used for material compaction. Among their advantages is the possibility of continuous compaction. Employing steel belts made of high-strength materials enables to achieve high values of compaction forces. The present paper presents FEM strength analyses which demonstrate the critical stress-strain state of the steel belt material. The belt in question is correctly tensioned, wound around a drum and applies a compressive force on the material. The achievable values of the compressive forces generated in the belt press are presented in relation to the stress state of the belt. On the basis of the analyses carried out, it is possible to estimate safe loading levels for the belt in order to ensure its adequate service life.
