Abstract
The cracks in structural elements of micro/nano sensing devices used in transport enegineering can influence sensing behaviour of these small scale devices. The crack problem in piezo-magnetic solids in micro/nano scale is analyzed by the finite element method. The flexomagneticity is dominant at micro/nano scale where size effect phenomenon plays important role. The size effect phenomenon in a piezo-magnetic solids is considered in constitutive equations via one material coefficient called microstructural length scale parameter. The governing equations and corresponding boundary conditions are derived from the principle of virtual work. The finite element method (FEM) is developed for a general 2D boundary value problem. The presented numerical results show the influence of flexomagneticity on crack opening displacements.
