Last modified: 09. 06. 2023
Abstract
Recently, computer modelling represents inseparable part of activities of workers in a technical practice as well as in scientific-research institutions. The content of this contribution is focused on a presentation of a selected combustion engine’s valve train. It is a multibody model, which is created in the Simpack software interface. This virtual model serves to perform dynamic analyses as well as kinematic analyses of a created mechanical system of a valve train of a combustion engine. Thank this, it is possible to choose optimal parameters of individual components in such a way, that it will be ensured an effective changing of a cylinder filling, low fuel consumption and low level of vibrations of an entire valve train. A multibody model of an OHC valve train is presented. This illustrative model consists of two valves, two rocker arms and one camshaft. Examples of CAD models needed for their implementation to a MBS model in the Simpack software are included. The created multibody model of the OHC valve train includes rigid bodies interconnected by means of mechanical joints and kinematic couplings. Further, there are defined degrees of freedom of individual bodies of the model, initial conditions for numerical simulations as well as operational conditions for performing the wanted simulation computations. The model also includes contact modelling elements, which is important for modelling and simulations of some specifics of the valve train. Evaluation of outputs parameters is focused on the assessment of selected quantities, which are characteristics for the valve train of a combustion engine.
