Abstract


The application of electric drives and electric energy storages in vehicles poses new challenges for the designers of these systems. One of them is the resistance to mechanical vibrations of battery packs, which consequently need to undergo vibration testing. In the event of their failure, such as a battery fire, it is crucial to have the ability to quickly disconnect the battery pack from the vibration platform while simultaneously ensuring that the mounting system maintains good vibration transfer properties between the vibration exciter and the tested battery pack. The article presents the principle of operation, design, and results of experimental research on a new type of quick-release clamps designed for conducting such tests on electromagnetic shakers. These holders use three methods of mounting: vacuum coupling, mechanical, and electromagnetic, and their design and application in vibration technology are a novelty. To determine their usefulness for the correct implementation of vibration tests, vibration transfer functions from the shaker to two selected points associated with the output surfaces of the holders were determined. The results of the transfer function calculations were compared with recommendations from industry standards, including IEC 60068-2-6, which limit allowable deviations in transfer functions. The research was conducted at ambient temperature, for different levels of contamination of the contact surfaces of the couplings, at different levels of sinusoidal vibration amplitude ranging from 5-200 Hz and with different sample masses. A comparison of the advantages and disadvantages of the presented solutions was made, and prospects for the possibility of using individual methods in industrial applications were established.
