Abstract

Changing the means of transport by people with physical disabilities, especially changing from a wheelchair to a car, is difficult and requires taking into account two main factors. The first is when the wheelchair user changes, the second is when the wheelchair is loaded into the car. Through human anthropometric measurements using the Motion Capture method and modeling the interior of the vehicle, it is possible to design effective solutions that facilitate loading the wheelchair into the car. In the article, human anthropometric measurements were made to determine the range of motion of the right and left upper limbs in order to check the ability to operate a car. The range of the left limbs outside the vehicle area for the female driver in the C50 percentile model (36.6 mm) and the left and right limbs from the side of the passenger seat (678 mm and 740 mm, respectively) were demonstrated. The main restriction of movement is the roof of the car. The paper presents the concept of a lever system supporting the loading of a wheelchair, the service of which will be located within the tested ranges.
