Abstract

The paper aims to compare the mechanical properties and manufacturing costs of 3D-printed composite structures with various humidity levels. Two assessment is performed with two different types of materials:

  • nylon reinforced with continuous glass fibres,
  • nylon reinforced with chopped carbon fibres (matrix) and continuous carbon fibres (reinforcement).
The former composite structure is characteristic of lower tensile strength and also manufacturing costs. Structural materials in transport equipment are exposed to various humidity levels depending on weather conditions. At the same time, humidity significantly affects the mechanical properties of the observed materials.
