A frequent goal of MBS solutions is to construct a mechanism whose endpoint (the working part of the mechanism) describes the desired trajectory. One of the oldest and most common applications of the trajectory point mechanism is to describe a straight line. More complex mechanisms with more than four members have been developed to generate accurate to perfectly straight lines. This paper presents the creation and optimization of such a mechanism in Matlab and Adams.
