Abstract
The paper presents new polymer nanocomposites based on polyoxymethylene (POM) with alumina powder (Al2O3) modified with different percentages of polyhedral oligomeric aminoPOSS silsesquioxanes (C1/AMPOSS1 and C1/AMPOSS5). The materials were made by homogenising the compositional components in the molten state using twin-screw extrusion technology. Samples for testing were prepared by injection moulding. The aim of the study was to determine changes in characteristics and structure during photodegradation carried out in a UV accelerated ageing test. The effect of physical modification on the mechanical, thermal and structural properties of the polyoxymethylene nanocomposites was evaluated. The results showed that the use of aminoPOSS as a POM filler shows a positive effect on the structure of the nanocomposites and can significantly reduce the degradation processes of polyoxymethylene under weathering.
