Influence of the geometric parameters of connection for utility properties of timing belt

Abstract
The article addresses an important issue in the field of linear transport carried out using timing belts. In most cases, products are transported using welded timing belts. Experience shows that there is a need for a deeper analysis and examination of the welding area. It is necessary to define dimensionless parameters that will allow us to design appropriate methods of preparing belts for connection. The shape and dimensions of the connection have a significant impact on the quality and working time of the belts in production conditions. Knowledge of the correlation between width and length of joined belt outlets, will influence the design and process of making connection between them, and in consequence they can impact on strength and durability of the belt. In the article, the authors present the methodology and results of testing the deformation of teeth at the connection area. It should help to develop dimensionless coefficients describing the correlation between the geometric dimensions of the belt in the connection area and the deformation of the joint.
