Abstract
This paper focuses on the development of models of the behaviour of selected polymeric surfaces (paper, oil paint) with the aim of using them in application simulations of surface degradation. The research includes the development of a scaling system based on surface parameters and properties of individual polymer layers. These selected properties are as follows: temperature and humidity of the external environment, pH of the polymer top layer, polymer surface composition determined by optical microscopy and IR spectra, and contact wetting angle of the polymer layer. The outputs from the application modelling of the polymer surface behaviour based on the above scaling of surface parameters will enable the user to find a suitable way of possibly slowing down the degradation of the polymer surface and thus ensuring a longer lifetime of the polymer. The results of the research are subsequently used in the development of the ARTEMISA web application, which aims to simulate the behaviour of the surface over time and optimise storage conditions.
