Abstract

This article presents an analysis of the influence of laser welding source parameters on the strength properties of a lap joint. The aim of this work was to develop a numerical model for predicting the strength properties of laser welded lap joints. As part of the work, experimental tests were carried out and then numerical simulations were performed. Experimental tests were performed for a lap joint welded using two different welding depths. A joint with full and partial penetration of materials was obtained. The material used for the lap joint is two flat bars with dimensions of 100 mm x 200 mm x 2 mm made of austenitic steel X5CrNi18-10. In order to determine the properties of the lap joint, strength tests and macroscopic research of the joint were performed. In order to determine the properties of the lap joint, strength tests and macroscopic research of the joint were performed. Based on experimental studies, discrete models of the analyzed lap joints were developed in the Abaqus FEM program. Simulation calculations of the laser welding process were performed. The obtained simulation results were input data for further numerical strength analysis. In order to verify the developed numerical models, the obtained results were compared with experiment.
