Abstract

The article presents the results of research on the technology demonstrator developed within ETAF research project financed by the EUREKA programme. The project concerns the development of a new, effective technology for regulating the flow parameters of axial fans. It is dedicated to industrial fans, which are an important group of machines used in many areas of industry. The proposed method aims to increase the efficiency of the fans in order to reduce operating costs. The article presents a summary of CFD calculations, the aim of which was to determine the optimal proportions of the division of the impeller blades and guide vanes and the optimal operating angles of movable blades. The results of these calculations showed that the new control method has a wider range of applications with an efficiency above 60% in the case of lower flow rates and pressure. The article also contains a description of the initial tests of the technology demonstrator, conducted on the test stand and an interpretation of the obtained results.
