Methodology of welding of timing belt
Last modified: 11. 10. 2024
Abstract
Timing belt connections, although very important for machine construction, are neither thoroughly tested or standardized. "Welded timing belts are increasingly used in transport and production systems. They ensure the product moves at high speed while maintaining control over its position in production. However, high speeds and bending frequency negatively affect the durability of the belt connection. In addition, fatigue of the layer of fatigue and exploitation of Van der Valls forces causes the opening of previously welded ends of the belt. The paper presents the results of operational tests on the search for the proper shaping of the ends of the belt at the place of connection. Furthermore, the various belt connection solutions used are presented. The result of the work is the proposed shape model, along with parameters and coefficients affecting its properties.” The authors present research results on the importance of the connection length in relation to the remaining geometric dimensions of the belt. Coefficients that can be used to describe the connection length have been proposed.
