Application of the FSD Algorithm for Design of Vehicle Frames from the Point of Safe Operation

Abstract
The safety of the technical system is an important factor influencing the design, production, quality and price. The focus of the authors will be a very important process of designing a given engineering work. By presenting the structural optimization of the chassis frame of a special rail vehicle, the authors want to draw attention to the importance of optimization algorithms in the design process while respecting selected safety criteria. The article presents the basic principles of optimizing of design parameters of the chosen mechanical system. Due to the structural models of finite elements in static excitation, the problem of optimization by the fully stress design (FSD) is solved. The mentioned optimization approach will be used in the optimization of the VKL 400.2 track machine chassis.
